This places is unbelievable. Beautiful. Stunning or as they say in Wales LUSH! Janye is your perfect landlord/host. She decorated it perfectly for us. It was so magical I got down on one knee! And he said yes. We survived the storm too. We’re going back next Feb!

The Far Boathouse has to be the number one place to stay on the shore of Ullswater. Tucked away down a private track the boathouse is complete in its inventory, classically furnished, and with a view which will not be surpassed. Looking across, up, and down Ullswater, the picture changes whichever way you look. Given the landscape, add the birds, swans, ducks, boats, steamers, otters, fish and the ever changing weather, and this is a recipe for endless enjoyment. We did not move the car during our stay, we used the local bus service and the steamers to allow us to walk much of the lakeside and a couple of fells, with many more to add!

The Boathouse is wonderfully designed so you can sit all day watching out over the lake from the enormous sofa, or of course from the balcony if the weather is on your side. The whole place is beautifully and thoughtfully equipped with everything one might need to be cosy and comfortable. Even on the busiest of weekends it was quiet and private. Being right on the lake was a joy for a swimmer and the enormous shower had plenty of space for hanging costumes to dry. I cant wait to go back!

Wow! Words are hard to find that do justice to The Far Boathouse experience. As it truly takes you to another place, from its idyllic evocative tranquil location, to its delightfully well-equipped and elegantly appointed interior. It really is the most perfect get-away-from-it-all experience. I’ve been fortunate to have experience much of the world, often having to travel many thousands of miles to escape, however, just 4½ hrs drive from London here lies an oasis of calm!! My only perhaps regret in writing this review, is that others will now flock to the Boathouse and bookings will become significantly harder!!
